How to make your bum look bigger in leggings

The most important step of all when it comes to making your bum look bigger in leggings: choose the right pair of leggings! Whilst a pair of basic cotton leggings can still make your bum look great, the real booty-popping leggings are those which have been designed to make your bum as peachy as possible:

Best leggings for a bigger bum:

Textured leggings

With so many types of leggings on the market, it’s difficult to choose the right pair for your body shape or your needs. If what you’re looking for is volume and a rounder appearance for your peach, opt for leggings with texture and patterns. Detailed, textured leggings add volume to your bum, whilst the legging material clings to your curves and gives you a streamlined shape. Check out the House of Peach collection here for textured leggings.

High waisted leggings

High waisted leggings are great for creating that cinched waist look: having a cinched waist pushes out your bum, making it seem fuller and your midriff appear slimmer and more trim. High waisted leggings also help flatten any love handles and any muffin top poking out from under our tops, and when your upper body appears slimmer, your bum looks bigger! Check out the House of Peach collection of high waisted leggings here.

Ombre leggings

Ombre leggings make the bum look bigger with their two-toned design: the deeper colours up top add volume whilst the lighter colours add a streamlined effect for your lower body. Opt for two-tone ombre leggings if you’re into some visual contour for your booty, and check out the House of Peach collection here to shop our gorgeous two-tone ombre designs. Ruched Leggings

Essentially ruched bum leggings are leggings that have a well-positioned ‘scrunch’ seam that accentuates your bum cheeks, which ultimately makes your booty appear bigger and more rounded. You can view our ruched leggings here.

How to make your bum look bigger in leggings, Peach tips and tricks:

1. Pair your leggings with a pair of heels

Heels are already great for the booty, as they force us to keep good posture whilst elongating our legs at the same time. Pairing a set of heels with a pair of booty-popping leggings is sure to make you the centre of attention!

2. Go one size down

The best thing about leggings is the stretch: even when you go a size or two down, they still fit! If you want to make your peach look bootylicious even in the most boring pair of leggings, simply size down! It’s important to opt for a high waisted pair of leggings when sizing down, however – we don’t want them falling down and exposing our bums to the neighbours!

3. Choose high waisted over low-rise leggings

If the appearance of a round bubble butt is the goal, high waisted leggings win hands down over their cotton, low-rise siblings. High waisted leggings will cinch you in at the waist and give the impression of a more slender middle, which then results in the appearance of a more voluminous booty! High waisted leggings flatten the stomach whilst also helping create an hourglass figure, which is ideal if you want to show off your bum.

4. Choose the right underwear

If you want your bum to really stand out in a pair of leggings, you’ll first need to make sure that your underwear is flattering for your derriere. Giant, granny pants are not the optimal choice here, as they will only flatten your peach. Opt for booty-enhancing underwear that looks good on its own: g-strings, thongs and lace brazilians help add shape and give the appearance of roundness, and are ideal for wearing under leggings.

5. Use shapewear

Shapewear is ideal for contouring the body and flattening any lumps or bumps that get in the way of achieving that perfect hourglass physique. If you want to make your bum stand out, invest in some shapewear for your love handles or muffin top. The lycra in the shapewear will flatten your stomach and smooth out any bumps, whilst the thick waistband on your leggings will push out and enhance your bum.

6. Wear bum enhancing underwear

If you’re really needing to boost your bum and you want a quick fix, there’s no shame in using a pair of bum pads. Bum lifters (or bum enhancing underwear) will give you temporary volume and lift, a bit like chicken fillet insertable bras but for your booty. Bum pads are really not a long-term fix, but they can be used as an overnight solution for an event or holiday where you really want your booty to pop.

Top exercises for making your bum look bigger in leggings

Just like our jeans article, we couldn’t complete this blog post without talking about some good ‘ole exercises for that booty! Whilst all the tips above are helpful and will aid you in enhancing your bum, using exercise to build your glutes is the fail-safe way to make your bum look bigger in a pair of leggings (and jeans, and a bikini, and in your birthday suit!) And the biggest pro is this: it’s not a quick-fix or a simple, temporary solution. Building a strong pair of glutes will make your behind naturally rounder and fuller, so you won’t need to invest in booty pads or bum-enhancing tights in order for your booty to pop in a pair of leggings.

Top exercises for making your bum look bigger in leggings:

Glute Bridge

The glute bridge targets all three gluteal muscles, and is perfect for a gym newbie as it can be performed at home – even in front of the TV. This move can also isolate the glute muscle, adding mass to your bum without adding unnecessary mass to your legs. Read more about glute bridges here.

Hip Thrust

Similar to glute bridges, hip thrusts are one of the best exercises for building and shaping your glutes as they target all three gluteal muscles when performed correctly. Typically performed with resistance and an exercise bench, this move is not for beginners! Read more about the benefits of hip thrusts here.

Squats

Squats will always be a failsafe move to add into any lower body routine, and performing a variety of squats is the key to help you achieve rounder glutes. For a round bum, perform your squats in variations: do a mix of skater squats, bulgarian squats and jumping squats in order to hit your glute muscles from every angle.
